Novel Roles for Mitochondria, Endoplasmic Reticulum and ER-Mitochondria Contact in Synapse Development and Function

Event Date:
Thursday, January 30, 2020 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm

Event Location

A-250 Estabrook Lecture Hall

Frank Polleux, Ph.D., Columbia University neuroscience professor, will present evidence characterizing the function of mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum and ER-mitochondria contact in dendrites and axons of cortical pyramidal neurons. This will include characterization of mitochondria function regulating presynaptic neurotransmitter release through their ability to uptake Ca2+, Pdzd8-dependent ER-mitochondria contacts regulating synaptically-evoked dendritic Ca2+ dynamics and in vivo properties of CA1 place cells.
